Diamond microdermabrasion is an effective treatment to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, brown spots, scars and acne blemishes. This technology utilizes natural diamond chips which are plated to a stainless steel surgical wand to effectively polish away dead skin layers to expose healthier skin and promote new growth.

The FDA approved diamond microdermabrasion is similar to older technology particle microdermabrasion (usually aluminum oxide) without its drawbacks. Particle microdermabrasion is unable to treat the skin close to the eyes, lips or around the lower nose, but diamond microdermabrasion can easily treat all facial skin areas to give the patient an even all over treatment so lacking with particle microdermabrasion.

Particle microdermabrasion has been the subject of medical concern due to the adverse effects of loose and stray aluminum oxide particles which can cause skin irritations, become embedded in the skin to cause future adverse reactions and rashes. Diamond microdermabrasion technology has none of these drawbacks.

We advise most laser patients to have a diamond microdermabrasion just prior to receiving a laser treatment as the removal of the dead skin cells enables the laser to pentrate to a deeper more effective level.
